Ingrid Bergman, Montblanc source of esence and creation

Ingrid Bergman Montblanc Collection

October 10, 2009Luxury Pens: Montblanc luxury writing instruments has created a trio of writing instruments that pay homage to Ingrid Bergman, one of the greatest names in entertainment history.

Just as Ingrid was awarded three Academy Awards, for her roles in the 1944 thriller Gaslight, the 1956 drama Anastasia and the 1974 mystery Murder on the Orient Express, Montblanc has created three elegantly crafted writing utensils to celebrate the international actress’ special achievement.

Each style of the Montblanc Edition Ingrid Bergman has an Italian name that hints at the years she spent in Italy, with her children and second husband, legendary director Roberto Rossellini, La Donna, L’Attrice and La Diva.

Each Montblanc Edition Ingrid Bergman features Montblanc’s 18K red gold nib with its distinctive heart-shape incision, with the Montblanc iconic emblem on each opulent cap, in mother of pearl on L’Attrice and La Diva. The three editions also display an amethyst, which symbolizes traits often attributed to Bergman: calmness, clarity and tolerance.

La Donna is made of a sleek black precious resin barrel, reflecting Bergman’s classic style, while the pleat-pattern mother-of-pearl-hued lacquered metal cap alludes to the skirts Bergman often wore and the red gold plated fittings reflect her ability to project passion on-screen. La Donna is available as a cartridge fountain pen, a ballpoint and as a rollerball.

L’Attrice is a special limited availability fountain pen, offered in only 75 pieces, reflecting 1975; the year Bergman won her third Oscar. The cap on L’Attice is a red gold Ingrid Bergman signature-engraved cap with a red gold clip adorned with an amethyst as well as a ring embellished with sparkling, brilliant cut diamonds designed to set off the floral motif upon the mother-of-pearl-hued lacquer barrel.

La Diva is considered the apex of the Montblanc Edition Ingrid Bergman, made of 18K hand-engraved solid red gold, and adorned with sparkling brilliant-cut diamonds. The highlight of the pen is the amethyst centered flower, inspired by a piece of jewelery worn by Bergman.

The Montblanc Edition Ingrid Bergman is the most recent Special Edition to honor a Hollywood legend, following Greta Garbo and Marlene Dietrich who have previously been honored with a Special Edition writing instrument.

MI5 reveals nazi spy files

Blonde dancer-turned-Nazi-spy who toppled Neville Chamberlain in WW2

Beautiful ballerina-turned-Nazi spy Marina Lee may have been behind the heavy World War Two defeat that saw Neville Chamberlain resign, declassified MI5 files reveal today.

The blonde Marina Lee infiltrated and stole battle plans from the Allied taskforce sent to liberate Norway in 1940, the documents claim.

‘With these details in hand [German commander Gen Eduard] Dietl was able to rearrange his defence and to defeat [British commander Gen Sir Claude] Auchinleck,’ said Gerth Van Wijk, a captured German agent working for the British in 1942.

Prime minister Neville Chamberlain resigned after the disaster, with Winston Churchill taking over. Van Wijk’s claims looked to be confirmed when French intelligence questioned German agent John Dollar.

He said Russian-born Lee’s maiden name was Goubanova, that she taught ballet in Moscow and personally knew Stalin and other leading Communists before switching sides.

She was ‘slim, very blonde (natural), blue grey eyes, very pretty legs’, the French report added.

MI5 feared Lee could become a Cold War spy and, in 1947, ordered it be alerted if she tried to enter Britain.

‘In view of Lee’s pre-war Soviet ties, I think it is fair to continue to regard her as a potential threat,’ one MI5 officer wrote.

The truth of the Lee saga was never established, show the files at the National Archives in Kew, west London.

People, laugh!!

The first laughter appears at about 3.5 to 4 months of age, long before we’re able to speak. Laughter, like crying, is a way for a preverbal infant to interact with the mother and other caregivers.

Contrary to folk wisdom, most laughter is not about humor; it is about relationships between people. To find out when and why people laugh, I and several undergraduate research assistants went to local malls and city sidewalks and recorded what happened just before people laughed. Over a 10-year period, we studied over 2,000 cases of naturally occurring laughter.

We found that most laughter does not follow jokes. People laugh after a variety of statements such as “you look kind of tall!?” “Here comes nobody” , “How people manage life?” and Am I smart enough?”.

We don’t decide to laugh at these moments. Our brain makes the decision for us. These curious “ha ha ha’s” are bits of social glue that bond relationships.

Laughter provides powerful, uncensored insights into our unconscious. It simply bubbles up from within us in certain situations.

So people let’s laugh cause life is short , happy or sad  whatever you pass it’s made for luaghing sooner or later ,

Wish you all a splendid summer ,

Kad Merad

August 21, 2010 1 comment
